INITIATIVE, EFFORT, ENGAGEMENT, AND PERSISTENCE, are the characteristics of an up-and-coming generation. Students entering kindergarten today will be tomorrow’s community leaders, so it is important to provide them with the best of everything to ensure they are successful.
This is why the Fenton School District, located in Flint, Michigan has provided new textbooks and computer access for incoming kindergartners. The Fenton School District has also resolved to utilize new reading methods in the classroom to help students grasp the basics of reading.
In addition to new technology, the Fenton School District has also created a Pre-K program. The Pre-K program is a 4-day program for incoming students of families who cannot afford child care. The program will not only prepare the students for kindergarten, but also provide them with health exams, dental screenings and immunizations.
